AVTEQ, Inc., a leading manufacturer of video conferencing carts and mounts, announced that they will host a tweetup during the 2010 Infocomm Conference. The InfoComm conference will be held June 9-11th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
"We're so excited to host our first tweetup during Infocomm10," said Krista Lowrey, AVTEQ's Marketing Manager. "So many of our business relationships have been generated through Twitter and other social networks that we welcome the opportunity to add another dimension to those virtual relationships by meeting up in person."
Twitter, the popular microblogging site and current social media phenomenon is the service that spawned tweetups, gatherings of Twitter users at a predetermined venue for cocktails and informal discussion. According to Colin Alsheimer, Vice President of Promotions for the Social Media Club of Dallas, "Tweetups are a great way to connect with the people you interact with online every day. Until you've brought your online connections offline, you haven't realized the true power of social networking sites."
The tweetup will be held at RumJungle in Mandalay Bay on Wednesday June 9th at 8 p.m.
"I'm so excited. This will be the first event we've ever done with a virtual invite." RumJungle Catering Director, Ursula Stewart said.
No specific numbers were given, but AVTEQ says they attribute a large portion of their sales, leads and press relationships to Twitter and other social media platforms, "It makes perfect sense to enhance these relationships with an event driven by the very platform that connects us during our day-to-day routines. It's all coming full circle" Lowrey said.
AVTEQ will provide a limited number of drink tickets for InfoComm10 attendees who come to the tweetup.
"Based on the responses so far, we expect a great turnout from some great media reps and companies including AVI-SPL, Crestron, Lifesize, Rave Publications and ProAV Magazine. They'll all be at the InfoComm tradeshow, but they all have their own schedules to maintain, so you could miss the people you want to meet. The tweetup will be a great place to network with the best in the AV industry in a laid-back environment," Lowrey said.
